Starting in 2011 we worked on education from movies to classes while amassing our confidence for our first hive in 2015. From that point on everything went quickly. From one hive to two then five we seemed to be growing. Now at ten hives we have added specialized plants nearby to feed and nurture the bees from early spring through the summer.
There is no shortage of blackberries in our area. However, we needed forage in other times of the year to help our bees. We planted an acre each of French Lavender, English Lavender, Rosemary and Meadow Foam. Each blooming at different times of year. Not only feeding the bees nectar and pollen throughout the season it made changes in flavor for the honey.
We are still learning about honey bees and feel they are part of our family.
COMING SOON!
We are building a walkable labyrinth for the public to enjoy.
